C# and .NET, the technologies underlying Unity scripting, have continued to receive updates since Microsoft originally released them in 2002. But Unity developers may not be aware of the steady stream of new features added to the C# language and .NET Framework, because before Unity 2017.1, Unity has been using a .NET 3.5 equivalent scripting runtime, missing years of updates.
With the release of Unity 2017.1, Unity introduced an experimental version of its scripting runtime upgraded to a .NET 4.6, C# 6.0 compatible version. In Unity 2018.1, the .NET 4.x equivalent runtime is no longer considered experimental, while the older .NET 3.5 equivalent runtime is now considered to be the legacy version. With the release of Unity 2018.3, Unity is projecting to make the upgraded scripting runtime the default selection, and to update even further to C# 7. For more information and the latest updates on this road map, read Unity's blog post or visit their Experimental Scripting Previews forum. In the meantime, check out the sections below to learn more about the new features available now with the .NET 4.x scripting runtime.
This is a simple example of using a library, which has no dependencies. When NuGet packages rely on other NuGet packages, you would need to download these dependencies manually and add them to the project in the same way.

My project specifically requires Unity 2017 and every download link takes me to the asset store which no longer has TextMeshPro on it as it is now handled by the Package Manager which is unity 2018 and up. I just need the package files so I can manually import them. Someone help, please.
If there is another package previously downloaded delete it and Redownload the visualBut I recommend you to use visual studio codeMost Unity programmers use it because of its speed + high efficiency, and there are some packages for debugging codes
Make a copy of your project! - When migrating an old project from Unity 2017 the first step is to duplicate the whole project folder and give it a new name. Adding "-2018" would work well. Do not export your old project as a UnityPackage, that can take forever/have other errors. Keeping a backup of your project before migration is important! Importing a project into a newer version of Unity will make it very difficult/impossible to port it back to older versions. We cannot help you with reverting your projects.
Unity 2018 removes the "Use Color Temperature" mode from all lights. This means you will need to convert all light temperatures to RGB. This script provided by the community member ScruffyRules will convert all of the lights in a scene to RGB. This script is not authored by VRChat.

So ever since updating to Unity 2017 I've had this problem. At first I waited for updates to come out to see if that would remedy the issue. However, downloading Spine.Unity runtime 3.6 (and using both unity 2017.1 and spine 3.6 like the runtimes state) did not seem to solve the issue. To further test this I created a new project containing nothing outside of the spine.unity runtimes and a freshly exported spine animation.
When I am trying to download"Game development with Unity" from the visual studio 2017 the option says it's"Unavailable".. How to download this? So question is :Ques. : How to select the option which says "Unavailable" in the "visual studio installer"?
Why download Unity from Visual Studio 2017? You don't need it, you can download it from the Unity page, it's very simple. Even more, if you download it from Visual Studio you might download an older version of Unity (I have understood that Visual Studio takes some time to update it).
If you only want to download a single version of Unity you can do it from this link. If you instead plant to have several Unity versions (for compatibility with older projects) you can download the Unity HUB (a program which "manages" your Unity versions) from the same link, in the Unity HUB button.
In order to use Visual Studio 2017 to edit your Unity Script simply go to Unity preferences > External tools > External script editor and choose Visual Studio. Easy, right? The same instructions can be found in Unity documentation.

In December 2016, Unity Technologies announced that they would change the versioning numbering system for Unity from sequence-based identifiers to year of release to align the versioning with their more frequent release cadence; Unity 5.6 was therefore followed by Unity 2017. Unity 2017 tools featured a real-time graphics rendering engine, color grading and worldbuilding, live operations analytics and performance reporting. Unity 2017.2 underscored Unity Technologies' plans beyond video games. This included new tools such as Timeline, which allowed developers to drag-and-drop animations into games, and Cinemachine, a smart camera system within games. Unity 2017.2 also integrated Autodesk's 3DS Max and Maya tools into the Unity engine for a streamlined asset sharing in-game iteration process.
As of 2020, software built with Unity's game engine was running on more than 1.5 billion devices. According to Unity, apps made with their game engine account for 50 percent of all mobile games, and are downloaded more than 3 billion times per month, and approximately 15,000 new projects are started daily with its software. Financial Times reported that Unity's engine "powers some of the world's most lucrative mobile games", such as Pokémon Go and Activision's Call of Duty Mobile.
Creators can develop and sell user-generated assets to other game makers via the Unity Asset Store. This includes 3D and 2D assets and environments for developers to buy and sell. Unity Asset Store launched in 2010. By 2018, there had been approximately 40 million downloads through the digital store.
In the 2010s, Unity Technologies used its game engine to transition into other industries using the real-time 3D platform, including film and automotive. Unity first experimented in filmmaking with Adam, a short film about a robot escaping from prison. Later, Unity partnered with filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, whose Oats Studios used the engine's tools, including real-time rendering and Cinemachine, to create two computer-generated short films, Adam: The Mirror and Adam: The Prophet. At the 2017 Unite Europe conference in Amsterdam, Unity focused on filmmaking with Unity 2017.1's new Cinemachine tool. In 2018, Disney Television Animation launched three shorts, called Baymax Dreams, that were created using the Unity engine. The Unity engine was also used by Disney to create backgrounds for the 2019 film The Lion King.
